about

In the first winter of the Onculiey insurgence, a time of severe uncertainty and food scarcity among the rebels, a song emerged through the people. The lyrics seem to reflect a bereft peasant, facing losses in their rebellion but still pushing against the authorities.

This instrumental recording is from an unknown musician in the revolution and demonstrates the harm the rebellion had on their people. There was a stagnation, where the Onculiey were visibly unable to see the end to their suffering but pushed the buttons of the empire anyway.

Some modern commentators believe this started to question the movement; The appended lyrics reflect on the privileged food access they had under the Empire they claim to hate.

lyrics

Strawberries tasted sweeter
Back in spring
When we were younger
And a little more free
Now they’re so bitter
Reds lost its luster
Now afraid of yellow and blue
My little friends and lovers
Where did you go?
Please come back to me
Let me eat just one yummy strawberry
One last time
Tomorrow
If you want me to be your mother
Show me where it hurts
I didn’t think I’d ever be this tired
You feel like some type of sinner?
Then hurry away to hell
He thinks that he’s some kind of hero
Put him in his place
She’s not afraid of the specters
Inside of her head
The specters are my comfort
We don’t need any masters
The space between us need not exist
They say let the flies wander
And swallow and swallow
And cry and cry
And swallow and swallow
And cry and cry
And swallow and swallow
And cry and cry
